$300 million JUUL settlement

Following this initial settlement, Altria agreed to pay an additional $45 million to settle remaining claims in the case. If you have already submitted a claim under the previous settlement with Juul Labs, you do NOT need to submit another claim form to receive payment from the Altria settlement.
📰 Original article: A class action lawsuit has been filed against JUUL Labs, Inc. and associated individuals and entities. The lawsuit alleges that customers paid more for JUUL products than they otherwise would have paid if they had received accurate information regarding the addictiveness and safety of the products. The plaintiffs also claim that JUUL products were illegally marketed to minors. The Court did not rule in favor of either party.
The defendants deny the allegations and say they have not violated any laws. But they agreed to pay $255 million to settle claims against him, to avoid additional costs. Altria, another defendant in the lawsuit, and related companies are not parties to the settlement. The trial will continue against them.

Who is eligible?
The Settlement Class includes all individuals in the United States who purchased a JUUL product at a retail store, online store, or on the JUUL website before December 7, 2022. If you are in this group , you are a member of the group covered by the settlement. The class and you must make a claim to receive payment.
You are not a member of the Settlement Class if:
- You purchased the JUUL product(s) only from another person who is not a retailer; Or
- You are a defendant, one of its employees, officers, directors, legal representatives, heirs, successors and wholly or partially owned subsidiaries or affiliates; Or
- You are a bailiff in this case or a member of their immediate family, or court staff; Or
- You timely and properly opt out of the Settlement Class.

Eligible products
Products included in the Settlement are any JUUL product designed, manufactured, produced, advertised, marketed, distributed or sold by JUUL Labs, or under the JUUL logo, including “JUUL” branded pods or devices.

Settlement payment
JUUL Labs, on behalf of itself and other individuals and entities, has agreed to pay $255,000,000 to resolve the Settlement Class’ claims. Class members who submit a claim are eligible for a settlement amount after payment of attorneys’ fees and filing costs.
Each claim will be based on the amount spent by each claimant on JUUL products compared to other members of the settlement class. The amount each applicant will receive is unknown at this time, as it depends on the total number of applications.
It will also depend on the number and type of purchase. A numerical value will be assigned to each purchase. It consists of the retail spending for each purchase, multiplied by the weighted values shown below:
- Youth purchasing: Retail spending x 4.
- 2015-2018 Initiate: Retail spending x 2.
- Initiation 2019-2022: Retail spending x 1.
To receive payment under the settlement, you must make a claim before July 14, 2023.
